Faith in Humanity restored

Exactly 2 weeks ago, I went to the laundry on an otherwise normal day. To my dismay as soon as I came back home I realized that my wallet was missing from my trouser pockets! I vividly remembered tucking my wallet in my back pocket as soon as I had left the laundry and came to the rather sad conclusion that my wallet had indeed been filched from my pocket. I immediately called my banks to deactivate my lost debit and credit cards as well as calling 911 to report the missing wallet.
As I sat down after completing the required calls I couldn't help but feel distraught at what had just happened to me. I had never in my life misplaced anything as important as my wallet as I take extraordinary care of my belongings. I was especially upset as I had my Rutgers ID inside my wallet which I had used in my 4 years at Rutgers using to swipe at the dining halls, my dorm and at various other places. I decided to call Rutgers and was promptly told that alumni like myself would not get a card even for sake of memorabilia and that it was too bad. I consoled myself that I would have a degree from Rutgers itself, so the ID card would not be a big deal. However, my subconscious wouldn't be eased by my sour grapes-esque attitude and it gnawed at the back of my mind almost everyday as something I should've been more careful about.
Today in the evening in the mail I saw the package (pictured below) an envelope with a lump in the bottom. I did not dare believe what I thought had just transpired! Someone had found my wallet and mailed it back to me. As I opened the wallet and saw my Rutgers ID among other things I frantically searched the envelope to see if there was any trace of seeing who this person was that had found my wallet and mailed it to me. This person did not have to do this at all, s/he couldn't have cared less and could've carried on with their life. Yet they took time off their schedule to send me my wallet, reuniting me with the leather casing which I faithfully snuck into my back pocket every day as I walked out of my dorm/home.
In a time when human depravity reaches new highs with dangerous demagoguery, hatred, and terrorism to name a few vices this act of kindness touched me deeply. To the person who sent me my wallet, I want to say a hearty thank you from the bottom of my heart. May all of us have the strength, courage and will to do well for everyone around us to make this world a better place from all the awful things we see unfold everyday.
